Jin-Roh has been out for a long time now... might be hard to get one for a bargain price right now though.
I posted some stuff on the Home Theatre section but nobody seem to care much about anime on BluRay in this forum.

Oh and I finally managed to get a copy of Yukikaze(BluRay) here in the UK... was very expensive but it's worth it for me. :)

anime in HD, does it even make that much of a difference quality wise?

Yes...if you can find the BD remake opening of AIR, watch it. It's absolutely amazing. I'm not sure how much compression there is in what you can find on torrents, but the BD version is seriously amazing at 1080p.

But see, it's animated. It's not like there are too many tiny little details or anything.

ah but this is where youre wrong! animation these days are mostly done digitally (as opposed to hand painted cels) super crisp line work, bold colors, stunning Backdrops are all given HD qualities now that Computers are being used more and more...
If a new series is natively rendered (drawn) @1080 its obiously going to get compressed for DVDs
A lot of anime is being broadcast in HD over in japan... so when those HD shows hit DVD... they are compressed.
if you want to see the differences... download some standard definition shows and hd shows... (ex: death note is about 704 x 400 and the HD special is 1280 x 720)
obviously the DVD and Blu-ray are going to be a little higher than what you can DL but the difference is clear.

Like I said in my previous post, try to find the BD rip of AIR TV's opening remake. I don't think you'll be able to say the same thing again.

That guy is s tipical of somone has no idea about animeted films.
I meant even typical Disney film are filled with fine details.
Only made on cheap long time going TV series (both US and Japan) are low in detail.
Even then going to HD will refine the lines and coloring.
