They are an okay TV. they are cheap for a reason, pretty low contrast ratio's and usually lacking features of some other good TV's. They won't be near as nice as a higher level Sony or Samsung. But they will get the job done. Not bad as a "starter" HDTV or if you just want one for the bedroom or what not.

You won't be impressing anyone with picture quality with a Vizio.

I'm pretty close to picking up a 26" vizo from Wal-mart for $470 to mount on the wall in the bedroom. All I'm going to have connected to it is the Satelite (with no HD) so I'm not that worried. I did see Wal-mart has brand new 32" vizio's for $550 which isn't a bad price as for a secondary TV or something.

but if you like the picture quality and it's free, who cares, then take it. 8)

i have a 32" LCD Vizio hooked up to my PS3 and i like it.

Looks real nice, Bluray movies looks KILLER. Native Res of 1366x768

I have the VW32L, the one you have is a LITTLE better, and i LOVE mine, so it will look good with a PS3

the VX32L has 1200:1 ratio.......

Dude,

The TV will be fine. Especially if it's free. My mom has one and I played the game on it and it was fine. Just because the contrast ratio is something like 800:1 doesn't mean a lot unless you play right up on the tv. But to each his own. You wanna pass up on a free HDTV because of what we say, so be it.

I've had the vx37 for a year now. I can not wait to hook up my new PS3 both for games and even more blu-ray. YES!

I've had a VX37L for about seven months now and it's great. No dead pixels, sharp images, rich colors, built-in tuner, and they're cheap. You can't really beat that. Plus, it's of the rare breed of cheaper hdtvs that have two hdmi ports.

I have 2 Vizio HDTVs, One is a 26" mounted in the bedroom, and the other is the 37" for Gaming.

I'm super happy with both of them, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Its free and its your first HDTV, so you will definitely enjoy it. However, you should realize that compared to the other TVs available, it is kind of a starter model. I would reccomend you take it for now, and maybe in a few years if you are able to save up some extra cash you can upgrade or get a sound system to go with it.

Free is a great price, it is a decent starter model, but you will definitely want to upgrade sometime in the future.

I won the exact same tv while signing up for housing next year at college (it was a prize)that the OP is talking about. I just ordered an HDMI cable so I haven't hooked my PS3 up yet, but it will look really good I think. The price on this tv is so low compared to others so it is hard to beat (especially for you, since it is free). I really like this tv and I'm sure you will too.

I had a vizio once. If you're using to game it up and watch some tv then its 100% fine. You dont need an expensive tv. Its going to serve its purpose and its free so that's even better.

I have a 32 inch as well, two HDMI ports and all. Like others have said, it's not top-tier and there are better sets, but for me it's great!

In a few years I'll probably upgrade it, but for now, TV looks great on it, PS3 looks great on it. I'm happy!

I currently own a 32" vizio LCD tv. I think it is OUTSTANDING. I mean, for a free TV, its is absolutely outstanding. I paid 699 for mine and I think its worth every penny. Obviously the picture isnt up to par with a 32" sony that cost more than twice the amount. But again, awesome TV. I recommend it to anyone who wants an HD tv and doesnt want to spend a lot of money.

I have a VX37L 37" that i purchased nov 2006 from costco... its a killer TV .. the same TV now is found for freaking $749.99 at costco (i paid $999) .. vizio's are like the top selling TV's mostly cause they are found in whole sale clubs like costco and sams. they have all the features you'll need and the picture looks great on them. check out some of the reviews over at reviews.cnet.com .. even they say its a impressive budget tv. granted its not going to outbeat a samsung or sony, but its half the price. plus if your getting a vizio for free.. oh my god, thats killer! .. just make sure you get some HDMI cables for your PS and get a calibration disc to calibrate your display properly to give you the best picture.

I have the Vizio VW37L, and the picture is awesome. It supports 1080i, 720p, 480p, 480i. I have my PS3 hooked up via HDMI, my Xbox 360 via VGA and my Wii via component, and everything looks awesome when playing games, watching HDTV, etc. Great TV for the price. My setup is shown below:

At the time I took that pic, I didn't have the bar attached to the Wii. My son had a friend over, so I had moved the Wii into our Den for them to play on that TV. That pic was taken in the middle of me moving the Wii back after they were done playing. I was busy setting up my new PS3 as you can see (owners manual is out, and it's putting in the lastest firmware), so I didn't let him play on that TV.

But the sensory bar is usually tucked between the bottom of the TV and the base (where the base "V's" in). The sensory bar height is almost an exact fit.

I bought the Vizio 32" from sams club and after a tiny bit of calibration the picture looks fantastic through HDMI. It works really well at showing of the graphics don't worry.

buy a Avia or DVE Calibration Disc and take it from there

as for the speakers....yes they are NOT great
youre going to have to invest in surround sound...how much you want to spend, what your needs are and size of room and budget are totally up to you and a different thread lol

playstation 3 needs breath space.

It has already been moved. I have the three consoles on the top shelf now by themselves, offering them plenty of breathing room now. I will try to take pic later if I remember.

I got the 4o something Vizio, with two hdmi ports. I got it for around $900 or so a few months back (I think it was FEB). I absolutely love it and would like to pick up another one for my bedroom. The kids love it as well now with the digital cable. It does the 720p and 1080i. I don't really care about the nonsense tech-talk, as I like what I like. The Vizio for the money is a great buy. :)

The games look pretty good, but there's overscan that can be a serious pain, especially when watching videos, and it becomes impossible to use as a monitor unless you can adjust the settings in your PC to accomodate for the overscan. If you're an anime fan, digisubs (fansubs distributed exclusively over the internet) nearly all ignore safe frames, so it may cut off the subs on the bottom. If you don't mind the overscan, they have a good picture.

Traditionally, overscan was the extra picture elements which you did not see as they were outside of the borders of your display screen.

For example - the little markers to show that Ads were on the way used to appear mostly in the overscan areas of people's screens.

Problem is, many HDTVs don't have them because people use them for monitors, so the TV companies don't plan on it anymore, and, ya know, it's good to have a TV and monitor in one... That's what I want... Vizio won't accommodate for that, due to the overscan... It'll cut off the edges of the image... It does with HD satelite signals, too, because they are expecting the HDTVs to not have overscan when they make them...
