You can do 3 things:

1. get someone elses settings
2. get a disc and do it through that
3. hire a pro

1 is OK, 2 is better and 3 is the ultimate.

With options 1 and 2 you cannot access many controls which truly to change the very make up of the TV, these are only accessed through the service menus, which is basically a bunch of programming code. Only pros can really do it fully, especially since they are hooking up a 14'000 dollar light sensor to your TV to properly calibrate.

Things like white perfection (taking out the "blue"), color push, proper white and black levels, proper light output ie: perfect gray.... these cannot be accessed by normal means in your TV's menus.

So you have options.

I have that Digital Video Essentials disc. Not a bad disc. My friend bought a calibration package. I think it was called spider, something like that and we tried it on his panny. Man we f'd up his TV!!! hahahaha we got the service code to get into the "real" menu and the adjustments that are in there are insane. We had the spider on the screen and his laptop hooked up via usb.......we did something wrong and ended up having to take his tv back to get another one. hahahaha

My xbr4 is ISF calibrated. Spend 300 bucks at best buy for them to send their ISF techs out to calibrate your tv. Things look much more natural, and you can see more detail. My tv before calibration had blue color push. Its the best calibration you can get.

I can, you can rep me, but it doesn't mean your tv will need the same settings. I'll edit it in a second.

I scanned in my settings, but some reason I'm having trouble uploading the pic. I'll get it tho, don't worry.

edit: Oh, I have to compress the file size, no wonder. Should only be a few more minutes.

edit2: Ok, here it is. Sorry for the wait.

You have to realize something.....

It won't give the same effect at all though, because a lot of the options cannot be changed through the regular settings on your TV, so if he gives you the settings you aren't actually putting them in properly at all.

You cannot give ISF Calibrations out like that, it doesn't work that way.

I used these settings and tweaked a bit more to suit my needs. These were originally posted at AVS forum and the credit goes to Laorne !

Leave these settings on for around a day and you can adjust the brightness couple of notches up or down depending on your distance from the tv and the lightening in the room.

Hope this helps,
Varun

Yeah, I don't think he realized that at first, but might as well try to see if the menu settings made it look better.

I also have that digital video essentials disk, it worked wonders on both my 30 inch samsung hdtv and a 60 inch Sony XBR2 set, im sure it will work great for you as well.
