for those interested (i know the news is kinda old... but it may be new for some!)

Viz Pictures, the film affiliate of the North American publisher Viz Media (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/company.php?id=4552), has announced (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/press-release/2008-04-14/viz-pictures-and-ncm-fathom-bring-live-action-death-note-feature-to-the-big-screen-for-only-two-nights-in-north-american-debut) that it will screen (http://www.deathnotefilms.com/) the first live-action Death Note (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=6383) film in over 300 American theaters through National CineMedia's NCM Fathom on May 20 and 21. Director Shusuke Kaneko (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=44810) adapted Tsugumi Ohba (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=30361) and Takeshi Obata (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=5766)'s supernatural suspense manga into two movies, the first of which will show on those two May evenings at 7:30 p.m. (A release for the second film is listed (http://www.deathnotefilms.com/dn2.html) as "coming soon.") The screening will include a new 20-minute featurette that discusses the movie's production (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-04-14/1st-death-note-film-to-run-in-300+u.s-theaters-in-may#) and interviews director Kaneko. Subscribers of the email newsletter for Viz Media's Shonen Jump (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=1363) magazine can order advance tickets from April 18 to April 20. The general public can purchase tickets starting on April 21. The screenings will use NCM Fathom's high-definition digital presentation system, which was also used for Viz Media's Naruto (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=3381) movie screenings (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2007-03-21/naruto-movie-to-premiere-in-theaters) last June.

I saw the death note movie already, just so you know its mainly for the fans. Any person into anime but see's this will be like wtf like a normal movie goer. Its gotten mixed responses from both sides.

I disagree. I think the movie adaptation does a better job and ends more appropriately than the anime itself.

Even WonsAuto's grandma enjoyed it with me.

There are actually three movies. Death Note 1 and 2 came out first. And then L got his own movie in L : Change The World, which was a prequel to number 2. I enjoyed all of them, even though I am not a huge fan of the series. My girlfriend basically swooned and drowned in her fangirl-ism, since she loves the series to death. (=
