Does anybody know anything about this? I went into one of the big super stores and they had no Bluray. When I asked where they were, they told me Wal*Mart would not be selling them anymore until some kind of agreement would be made. :?

Walmart is still selling blu-ray online and there is nothing in the news.

Maybe you should have asked what an agreement he/she meant? Did the walmart sales person think you meant blu-laser pens?! :D

I went to my local walmart yesterday to grab Juno. They seemed to have less inventory but I didn't find it suspicious...

The walmart by me still sells blurays. They had about 3/5 bluray and 2/5 hd dvd stock. Not a whole lot of either though.

It was in the video department and there was nothing for them at all. Usually its a big display in the center of the video department (or just on the outside of it).

I did notice last week at one of my local Wal-marts they were out of alot of their Blu-ray titles. Enough so that I thought it was odd. Maybe they just aren't going to replenish their stocks???

No, he did say they would not be selling then anymore until some kind of agreement would be made. He wouldn't say anymore. Other Wal*Marts I was in had some, but a lot of them were down in stock. Don't know whats going on.

maybe they are trying to come to an agreement to sell them for cheaper...that would explain the situation...

^ I truly hope you are right!
I don't want to pay more than 25$ for a movie... even 20$ would be enough IMO.

Walmart is winding down it's HDDVD stock by June....the BD being disorganized would be due to new display hardware that will be installed by June imo. Look for BD in line rather than end caps and 1 off displays.

Last time I paid 30 dollars for a movie it was scarface. ANd that was because I really really wanted it. Then like a year later the Scarface craze hit. The movie was 20. Now you can get it for 7-10 if you search good enough.

I do find it odd that Wal-Mart doesnt have a very good stock of Blu in the first place. It's a little aggrivating actually when you want to buy Blu but theres nothing to choose from.

Maybe their store manager is confused, and still thinks there is a format war going on... lol.
11 Steps to Survival
Canada Emergency Measures Organization
Make this your handbook for emergencies.
Keep it in a handy place so that you and your family can refer to it quickly should any emergency threaten.
Keep other emergency advice such as first aid and artificial respiration instructions, antidotes for poison, emergency telephone numbers, in the same place.\
Governments and communities at all levels are planning for the survival of our Nation in the event of a nuclear war. But the survival of individuals also will depend upon the preparation that each person makes. Persons ready to take the right action before and following an attack will increase their chances of survival.
This pamphlet describes what YOU can do before and following a nuclear attack. You can greatly increase your family's and your own protection by taking the Eleven Steps to Survival:
Step 1 (http://www.webpal.org/webpal/d_resources/survival/books/11steps/#step01): Know the effects of nuclear explosions.
Step 2 (http://www.webpal.org/webpal/d_resources/survival/books/11steps/#step02): Know the facts about radioactive fallout.
Step 3 (http://www.webpal.org/webpal/d_resources/survival/books/11steps/#step03): Know the warning signal and have a battery-powered radio.
Step 4 (http://www.webpal.org/webpal/d_resources/survival/books/11steps/#step04): Know how to take shelter.
Step 5 (http://www.webpal.org/webpal/d_resources/survival/books/11steps/#step05): Have fourteen days emergency supplies.
Step 6 (http://www.webpal.org/webpal/d_resources/survival/books/11steps/#step06): Know how to prevent and fight fires.
Step 7 (http://www.webpal.org/webpal/d_resources/survival/books/11steps/#step07): Know first aid and home nursing.
Step 8 (http://www.webpal.org/webpal/d_resources/survival/books/11steps/#step08): Know emergency cleanliness.
Step 9 (http://www.webpal.org/webpal/d_resources/survival/books/11steps/#step09): Know how to get rid of radioactive dust.
Step 10 (http://www.webpal.org/webpal/d_resources/survival/books/11steps/#step10): Know your municipal plans.
Step 11 (http://www.webpal.org/webpal/d_resources/survival/books/11steps/#step11): Have a plan for your family and yourself. The following are some examples of the predictable effects on unprotected skin of the heat flash of a 5-megaton weapon exploded on a clear day:
Skin is badly burned up to 15 miles from the explosion.
Skin is blistered up to 18 miles from the explosion.
Sunburn types of burns up to 23 miles from the explosion. (WTF I thought this was a canadian guide... I don't know how far to go in miles, only KM lol) Because fallout is carried so far and covers such a large area, it could be the greatest danger to the largest number of Canadians in a nuclear war. If Canada was not hit by nuclear bombs, those exploding in the United States close to our border could result in serious fallout in many parts of Canada.

The WalMart by me still has quite a few BDs and even get in some newer ones some weeks. Still pricey though....Juno and Dewy Cox are both 34.99.
All the HDDVD are still regular price too which is weird and they have a bunch on HDDVD players for $69.

our wal-mart has a modest selection of BD movies to say the least. The prices suck as well.

Hmm... Walmart is the McDonald's of retail world... You can't trust two of them to be the same, and they try everything and are best at nothing.
Did the walmart sales person think you meant blu-laser pens?! :D
I actually dreamed about burning laser pens this morning... I kept waving it around, think I may have blinded a few people, and I used it to cut stuff open.

Although that was mostly true, don't you think it was odd that every Bluray disc was gone as well as the display?

Never listen to a Walmart elec.ftronics employee. They're just as ignorant on technology. Of course they are selling blu-ray movies they would be a fool not to.

Then how does that explain the bluray section completely gone? How does that also explain the short supply of all the other Wal*Marts I was in? The do sometimes know what they are talking about, even if its not the full details.

Okay, it's not the same amount as DVD, but there was enough.

Define a lot?
One I was in still had a lot, but nothing re stocked and it hadn't been for days. This has never been the case. But if this was Wal*Mart not selling BD anymore, I am sure someone would of picked up this story by now. Just seems weird.

Well, for my small town WalMart, alot would be about 250 to 300.
This ranged from tv series, pixar and regular movies.
There were more than my last visit, so I see this as my store is starting to get more demand for BR movies.

I just got back from Wal-Mart...they had at least a couple hundred BR and had phased out HD-DVD completely. Of course...I found all 3 of the movies I purchased yesterday $5 cheaper at Best Buy and FYE.

Have you guys received your Wal-Mart flyer this week???
Big section on the PS3 and Blu-Ray. I was all excited about it!
If no one has seen it, I can take a pic and show you all if interrested.
It's 3 pages full of "The Future Is Blu"

My walmart as of today started cleaning out alot of thier standard dvd's and had alot more blurays in stock than usually they even put up an extra display. They were stocking about 20-25 but today they had around 50. They do not carry hd dvd anymore as of today I dont believe.

I guess this makes sense about my post above this one .About seeing more blurays when I went to buy some food for memorial day.Seems as if they are getting rid of alot of standard dvd's and getting more bluray.

I went in to my local Walmart to check it out. They have expanded from an endcap to 12 feet of dedicated space directly across from the players (kind of like when DVD first came out. Interestingly the stock was almost completely wiped out. So I talked to Manager who Im friendly with and he said that a week earlier it was full. Im shocked that they are moving that much stock in Blu-Ray since I dont consider most of their shoppers to be concerned with next gen home entertainment. But in short, they are still carrying BR, have expanded their selection and are selling out quickly and on a regular basis.

I usually buy all my Blu-rays online, but did recently pick up Bee Movie there since they were one of the few retailers to have it on release day.

The Wal-Marts in my area still have BDs, but are getting raped in selection by the BestBuy across the street. Oh, BTW the BestBuy in my area has completely gotten rid of ANYTHING HD-DVD (Wal-Mart still has some) and the Blu-Ray section takes up 1/3 of shelf space where New Releases are and then about 1/4 more around the other side, where HD-DVD used to be before the blowout.

I am fairly familiar with the clerk that was doing the ''cleaning'' and when I said ''nice cleaning job'' he replied ''making room to give Blu-ray a better exposure then that lowly rack up front''. Maybe if Wal-mart is expending the Blu-ray exposure this way, the format will gain faster adoption, and maybe we will see a faster drop in software pricing.
Why are you bringing back unrelated topics that are over 4 weeks old and double posting? Try not to do that in the futureI just love seeing non-mods trying to enforce the rules while disregarding them themselves. This thread is not THAT OLD to consider it necro-posting, especially considering that what the member posted was relevant to the thread. I actually applaud him for NOT posting a brand new thread about it.... On a side note.... There is a report button!!!!

Why do you care? Who are you? Are you the secret police of the PS3 forums? It's all completely related...who is double posting? Do you even know what that is? So what if it is 4 weeks old...I know of posts on this forum a hell of a lot older than that. Why come into a thread and post if you are not gonna contribute? Try not to do that in the future.
Jeez...snooper beat me to it by a whole hour and I didn't even see it... :P
