Does anyone here listen to classical music?

Basically I listen to quite a bit of classical music and just need some new inspiration I guess, as I'm sure I'm missing some great ones.

Some of the stuff I listen to which is mainly all the usual suspects:

Film scores: All of John Williams, Hans Zimmer, The Rock, Chocolate, Batman, etc. You name it, I've probably got it! Then some TV scores, like Doctor Who..

Game scores: Elder Scrolls, Fable, Video Game Pianist, etc..

Then new classical music, like Einaudi [love him] and a bit of Enya.

And the old classics, Vivaldi, some Mozart, Elgar [love him], Tschikofsky, Dvorak, Grieg, Verdi, Haydn and a few more..

So yeah, any suggestions?

I dont really listen to classical but I played Crysis recently and the score for that sounds amazing, also the 300 score is meant to be one of the best.

Mostly Danny Elfman I have been trying to track down "Train Time" from the Mission Impossible score...

Being a massive Muse fan, naturally I'm partial to a bit of Rachmaninov. Ludovico Einaudi is probably the type of classical music I'm more into. I have all of his albums and completely love all of his work. Le Onde is probably his best piece.

I'll have to have a look for those, even though I haven't played/watched them. I like OST's a lot.

Danny Elfman is good, but there's something about his music that just isn't as good as John Williams/Hans Zimmer.

Saying that I like the Charlie and the Chocolate factory OST and some of the Batman stuff.

Rachmaninov, I've not listened to his stuff in ages.. And I've been meaning to get into Muse, don't think I ever listened to any of their stuff really.

Einaudi is just amazing. I managed to see him live a few years ago and his is just brilliant. I like all his stuff up to Una Mattina, although that's been growing on me a lot. The Ehoes compilation is perfect.

I've yet to listen to Divenire though.

V for Vendetta, I've been meaning to watch that again, actually!

Yeah, Pirates of the Caribbean OST is great, I prefer the second one though, the music's got more to it.

I'll have a look into some of them, thanks. :)

Absolutely and all the time! If you like Zimmer and Williams, check out Clint Mansell and Charlie Clouser.

Immediate Music is real good, their Globus stuff is excellent (like Preliator). I prefer XRD (X-Ray Dog) more though. Game soundtracks are also good, a few that I recommend:

Halo
Killzone
Final Fantasy (VII, X, IX, XIII atleast)
Metal Gear Solid

I didn't recognise their names, but it turns out I have some of their stuff, like Requiem for a Dream and Natural Born Killers.

Halo OST is good, all of them infact.

From what I've heard of Final Fantasy I like it, but having not played the games myself I don't know which one would be the best? Suggestions?

Umm.

No, not really.

Maybe when I'm waiting in the car and all the other stations have rubbish playing.

I can't seem to find any of his stuff anywhere to erm.. 'get hold of'. Well, apart from SAW OST, but considering I really don't like the films..

I've just come across some FF stuff.

The original music by Clouser is awesome, for Saw. Hello Zepp, Zepp Overture are all awesome.

Do not associate the music with "Saw". Extricate that thought from your mind. Judge the music based off it's on merits. It really is good.

And yea, it's hard to find the One Winged Angel pieces. It took me a long time to dig them all up.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Discs Original Soundtrack 1-2
Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII Original Soundtrack Discs 1-2

Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Original Soundtrack Discs 1-2
Good/bad?

That should cover most of the versions. Also, look up the 2 OC Remix editions of One Winged Angel as well.

But otherwise yes, you're golden.

(btw, there are multiple Clouser tracks from all IV Saw sountracks that are "Similar". They're part of the "Hello Zepp" line of music he created).

Yeah, you don't have to like the movie/game, but the soundtrack can still be good.Solaris has a really good one, but i think you would appreciate more if you've seen the movie, even though it isn't the greatest.(the music+ the beautiful space scenes)

I have actually heard most of those before! Especially the Cloverfield one, but I thought it was from somewhere else. And Solaris is beautiful!

Thanks.

I remember how weird it was when I had listened to the Firefly OST a lot and only afterwards watched it.

I am mainly into classical guitar music, since I play it myself. The lute suites by Bach played by John Williams (different from the film score guy) from 1975 is one of the best CD's I have ever heard and Tárrega's piece Receordos De La Alhambra is just amazing.

Some of my favourite classical guitar players are:-

John Williams
Julian Bream
Segovia
Barrios-Mangoré
Tárrega
Ida Presti
Xue-Fei-Yang
Heitor Villa-Lobos...etc

Just a few vids..

I would try Craig Armstrong (Solo albums The Space Between Us and As If To Nothing), Vangelis and Rob Dougan (orchestral with electronic beats)

Indeedy i do.
Classical > craptastical (AKA everything else)

I love putting on a bit of classical music, really good at keeping my mind focused, especially at night.

Piano-versions of songs / tunes are really good as well (well, the good ones )
There is loads of piano videos on Youtube from games music, like Castlevania, some Final Fantasy games.
