Why does a movie like Mr. Woodcock need 7.1?

Rated PG-13 for crude and sexual content, thematic material, language and a mild drug reference.

You need to hear this in 7.1 believe me.

now Lets make things clear here, the ps3 DOES do 7.1 dts-ma decoding. the dts mix that new line and lionsgate uses the ps3 doesin't mix those,(in some movies.........saw4 works fine) but all other 7.1 movies WORK FINE! if they wanted to....wich i think there not.....new line should make all future Releases in the traditional mix. the ps3 DOES mix the traditional way...... out of these 7 configerations the ps3 can mix the first one, new line and some of loin's gate movies like shoot em up uses the second one. the ps3 doesint mix the configeration that new line uses(the second one) so when you think about it there's nothing wrong with the ps3's decoder at all, all new line has to do is change there studio mix to the traditional way. though i dout they will do that, its still possible.......... http://www.dts.com/media/2007/Speaker_71a.jpg

Pretty lame of the PS3 not to be able to do it properly though, you figured they would have thought of this.

Considering this was a KNOWN issue on these discs before, but firmware updates for certain receivers fixed it. So Sony should have known better, hell... I WOULD HAVE KNOWN to make sure they work first.

The funny thing is i think they did know, thats why they put limited on the dts logo. but why would they do that?.......i think to give people a reson "still" to buy a standalone, the BDA probly told them. but thats just my theory.

Its pretty crappy if you ask me....... or anyone. I mean, if regular dudes like me could figure this out, why didn't they!?

I remember a lot of posts in the past regarding the fact that the PS3 didn't have HD-DTS MA.
Now that it does, then the complaint is that there's no bitstreaming or that some movies do not work fine.

I think some people never have enough :)

I'm sure that, as it happened to many other features that were lacking, they will be added with time.

[Remember we're still waiting for Home and for in-game XMB... :D]

Its different, its like giving us HOME but it doesn't work properly. Thats what this is. They gave the PS3 DTS:MA decoding but it doesn't work properly.

I'm sure they will get it right on time, because the mix thing it's not a limitation of the PS3, just a limitation of the software.

I don't think they're holding it off so people buys an stand-alone. That's also been said in the past about other features like DVD-scaling, and in the end the PS3 did it.

One feature that it's been hold-off was optical output of multi-channel SACD. But I'll bet that's due to legal restrictions (AFAIK, no other SACD player has multichannel optical output)
