I don't know if there is an adapter or not. Probably the latter, as they are 2 different signals (I think....).

Get a receiver with HDMI audio in. Problem solved! + rep
Seriously tho, I've never seen a coax to optical adaptor. You may be screwed.

Is your audio system any good? You could always get logitech z5500's for $250-350 lol.

Yeah but what a pain in the ***... how big is the power converter for that little box? LOL
Rating: http://www.monoprice.com/images/smrating_10.gif (10 out of 10) Reviewer: wayne from ottawa, ontario, canada http://www.monoprice.com/images/none.gif http://www.monoprice.com/Icons/next1.gif I recently purchased my playstation 3 but could not get it to play through my Bose Lifestyle 12 home theater system. I called a local high end audio store looking for a solution and was told it would not work and i would need to upgrade my equipment. A fellow employee i work with directed me to Monoprice.com. So i purchased the optical converter along with an optical and coax cable and after tweeking the playstations audio settings i am now able to enjoy all the benefits of 5.1 digital sound on my Bose system. Monoprice, i give you a 10/10 for survice and quality. I received my order in less than a week and i saved a lot of money. I will recommend you to anyone looking for audio/computer parts. Thankyou Monoprice! But, I would be surprised if it's perfect.. could there be any differences in protocol between coaxial and optical?
At least it won't cost you a lot to find out...

Ahhhh, what's one more plug in that mess we all have ;)

Both are digital so there really shouldn't be a problem. translate 0's and 1's from one format to 0's and 1's in another format.

Exactly!
