eoh (http://www.veoh.com/) is a site where you can watch, download and upload videos. In terms of watching videos, back in the day, you could stream any video of any length. As it stands now, for videos longer than 20 minutes, you can only stream the first five minutes of the video. To stream the whole video, you need to download a copy of VeohTV - which is free. When it comes to downloading, everything must be downloaded through VeohTV, no matter what its length (see below). Uploading is generally good on Veoh. You can use the traditional route of uploading a file from your computer, or you can upload a file to Veoh that is already on the internet (on Stage6 for example). Using this method, a 90 minute video file will take less than 10 seconds to transfer to Veoh, and will be available within 20 minutes.

The following gives a guide to:
• VeohTV and user-encountered problems
• Getting round the 5 minute preview
• Why your downloads through VeohTV are FLV files
• Downloading the higher quality AVI file from Veoh
• Uploading to Veoh

Videos are more than just 5-minute previews

When we, as link hunters, find Veoh links and post them here, it annoys us when people complain that these aren't the full videos; 'they're only the first five minutes' andthen post some hatin'. But the truth is you can watch the whole video without downloading. You just need to stream the video through VeohTV.

[B]Downloading and storing videos from Veoh

In the past you could download the original, high quality avi file, though now you can only download an flv (flash video) file, which is of a slightly lower quality. By using VeohTV for downloading, the videos are automatically downloaded into a folder on your computer that Veoh has control of. If something you have downloaded is removed from the Veoh website at a later date - let's say for a copyright violation - Veoh can remove the copy from your computer if you haven't moved the video file away from the Veoh folder. Here is a guide to downloading video files and ensuring that the file is not deleted from your computer at a later date.

FLV files

Downloading through VeohTV, Veoh have decided that, to save bandwidth, all videos will be lower-quality FLV files. These may be converted back to AVI files, but you will experience a drop in quality, and if the link is still active, you will find the below very useful.

Downloading the original AVI file - Without the need for VeohTV

Originally, every download from Veoh came as an avi file. These days, when you click download, all you get is an flv (flash video) file. The avi file was still present on the server but only the uploader had a link to it, so your best hope was to hope the uploader posted the link in the comments section of the video. Now, Maxedroom has found a way that anyone can recreate this download link.

Here are the links, taken from the image below, that you can copy:
http://www.veoh.com/rest/video/ PermalinkID /details
http://p-cache.veoh.com/cache/external/ originalHash origExtension

For Example:
PermalinkID = v1990401qg3bdNEa
originalHash = 94f05afdb2d7d1bcb8289bdfb325c51f73874B1O
origExtension = .avi

Alternatively, click here (http://www.epitomegaming.com/projects/parseveoh.php) and post the Veoh link into the search bar. The search will return the download link, providing the link is still active. (Thanks to dead1ne)

Code:

Video details: http://www.veoh.com/rest/video/v1990401qg3bdNEa/details
Download link: http://p-cache.veoh.com/cache/external/94f05afdb2d7d1bcb8289bdfb325c51f73874B1O.avi

(Thanks to maxedroom for the method.)

Uploading

There are two ways you can upload a file; from your computer and from a URL. 'From a URL' is the faster of the two (a 90 minute video can be transferred to Veoh in a matter of seconds). Have a look in this thread (http://board.alluc.org/viewtopic.php?id=29681) if you want to make your uploads smarter.

Yes, that is why I posted this. I used to watch stage 6 alot but when it got sued/closed down I switched to Veoh. A lot of people don't know about the program or how to get past the 5 minute preview. That is why I posted this.

You got something wrong.
Its videos that are longer than 30 minutes not 20 that make it go to 5 minute preview.
I know because i watch Naruto and Bleach every week there and episodes are 23-25 minutes long and i get pissed when Naruto does an hour special episode because i gotta find it in 2 parts.

Stage6 didn't get sued. It was just a huge money sucker for Divx because it was a free service that required huge amounts of bandwidth and storage space.

Cheers for putting up this guide. It should help those still watching their anime on YouTube. :p

I know you made this because you're new here, but ps3forums had the Veoh Beta passed out amongst ourselves a long time ago, so most of us know what it is, lol.

Just wanted to help out because I made another thread filled with anime movies. So I didn't want people to get stuck in the preview.
