Are there any hockey fans on this forum? I know I am a huge hockey fan. I thought it would be a great idea to start a hockey thread to discuss teams, players, the league, and predictions as to which team you believe will take the cup. Also who you think will win the Calder trophy. Sidney Crosby or Alexander Ovechkin?

Personally I think Carolina, Ottawa, Detroit, and Nashville are the top competitors for the cup. Although I have predicted certain teams to win before and I was wrong. I also believe that Ovechkin will win the Calder trophy. (Funny that I didn't say Crosby since I am Canadian!)

I think the US stands a great chance. To be honest I believe that Gretzky screwed up big time when he picked the Canadian roster. There idea was to take veterans over youth and new talent. Guys like Eric Staal, Jason Spezza, Sidney Crosby will not get to play for their country. If you look at the stats you can clearly see that they are leaps and bounds ahead of everyone picked for the team! Those 3 guys have more points than majority of the roster, yet they weren't picked! Ill stop now as I am on a big rhyme. :lol:

yea thats true but the vetarans have been there and know ow to handle it, as the rookies could mess up under the pressure. but the usa made some mistakes too like not taking paul mara for defense. either way i think it will come to usa and canada final round like always and hopefully a awsome game from there.

So now the Olympics are over and we have new gold medal hockey winners. What is everyone's thoughts on who won? I think Canada was doomed from the beginning as they had too many veterans. They needed some young blood in there in order to help bring up the momentum of the game. Guys like Crosby, Staal, Spezza, etc. All these guys should have been in the line-up! Anyways I am just happy that the NHL games have started again.
