'07年、漢の熱い魂を高らかにうたい上げて絶大なる指示を得た「天元突破グレンラガン」。
だが放送終了後も、グレン団の燃えたぎる思いは消えちゃいなかった！
今回発表された劇場版プロジェクトについて、
武田康廣プロデューサーを直撃した。
「実はTV放送が始まったときから劇場版も考えていました。
これまでになく熱い作品になる手ごたえを感じていたし、
放送後も『もっと見たい！』と思わせてくれた。
『エヴァ』のように10年語り継がれる作品になると確信したんです。
でもTVシリーズの進行中に今石(洋之監督)に話をしたら、
『まっぴらごめんです！』と言われましたが(笑)」

確かに、「新世紀エヴァンゲリオン」も深夜の再放送からブレイクの波が高まり、
後の劇場版へと拍車をかけた。
「グレンラガン」を現在の再放送で見ている人にも、
今回の劇場版はうれしいニュースだろう。
そこで気になるのは劇場版の内容だが…。
「まず考えているのはTVシリーズの総集編的な内容です。
といっても、本編をまとめ直して終わらせるつもりはありません。
テーマは『再燃』。
覚悟を決めた今石監督が
『グレンラガンであってグレンラガンでないものを見せる！』
と言ってすごい企画を書いてきたんですが、
これはもちろんボツです。
とは言え、皆さんの予想とは大きく違う姿をお見せできればと思います」

こうして決定した劇場版に向け、意気軒昴なスタッフたち。
なんと現在は劇場版とは別の完全新作映像を制作中だ。
参加スタッフの名前は残念ながらまだ書けないが、
錚々たる顔ぶれであることだけは言っておこう。
東京国際アニメフェア2008でその一部が上映される。
「劇場版ではファンの皆さんをいい意味で裏切りたい。
アニメフェアではさらなるニュースをお伝えできると思うので、
ぜひ見にきてください」


Summary/translation of main points:

Takeda says that they were thinking of making a movie from the time the TV series started airing. After it aired, people were saying they wanted to see more, and they had confidence that this work could be handed down for 10 years like Eva. But when he talked about it to Imaishi while the TV series was still going, he was told "No way!"

So what is the movie about? They were first thinking of making it a summary of the TV series, but don't intend to just rearrange it and end it like that. The theme is "revival." Becoming resolved, Imaishi said "I'll show you something that is Gurren Lagann but not Gurren Lagann!" and began writing great plans, but of course they were turned down. Although, they want to show everyone something very different from what they'd expect.

Also, currently they're in the middle of working on a completely new production different from the movie. They can't reveal the names of the participating staff yet, but he can say that they are distinguished members. They will screen a portion of this at the Tokyo International Anime Faire. "With the movie, we want to betray everyone's expectations in a good way. We'll reveal even more news at the Anime Fair, so please come watch."

so its most likely a recap, but not just a recut of the entire season... pretty much a redo, also there might be an OVA to supplement the movie.

Well I'll watch it, didn't really get to watch the all of the episodes.

If its done right it'll be good.

Meh.. I've always been disappointing when it comes to anime series turned into movies but, I'll still watch just because the series kicked so much ***.

reworked scenes is still new scenes imo... even if its the same story line... its completely reworked animation with a waaaaay bigger budget... (which means more fluid animation different camera angles... just check out the lip synching in that clip!... freaking ACE!)
