After watching the SuperBowl I would have to say the Refs were definitly paid off. - Last years Superbowl with Seattle and Pittsburg

Anyways, the thread is re-opened to discuss this years upcoming Superbowl Colts vs. the Saints.

This is BS, if the Sea Hawks wanted to challenge the ruling on the field they should have threw their little red flag more than 0 times.

Go watch the Steelers Colts game and tell me it didn't have just as many close calls. Don't be a sore loser, the Sea Hawks will go down as the team with the *****yest fans. Every Sea Hawk fan (except the actual team) has done nothing but ***** and moan since then end of the game.

Face it, it was destiny. It was the 36th day of the year, we were in Detroit, and the stadium was packed with Steelers fans.


It's not like your team was brow beating anyone, you weren't a better team, you were on the same level at best. We had a tougher road to the superbowl. Not only was our division way harder than yours, we had to overcome three straight road games, one of which was in the dreaded Mile High Stadium. So stop *****ing

The only thing that really mattered was the Rothlesbuger TD. That was so close...too close to be called a TD. I mean after reply after reply he must have gotten in by a Milimeter.

Any other time than the 2 minute warning, that call would have reviewed and probably tunred over. That took people 30 minutes to an hour to make up their minds.


But whatever, that superbowl was mad boring.

It wasn't just that call, there were many calls that I felt were far too biased. I'm glad that Pittsburgh won since I'm a Steelers fan, but some of the calls on the Seahawks were just too ridiculous if you ask me. They were calling holding on the Seahawks almost every other play, and if there was any actual holding then it was usually very far from the play and irrelevant. Then the "blocking below the waist" call on Hasselbeck, which was also very odd. The Rothlesberger touchdown, and Jackson's push-off call which took back a TD from Seattle, these were all very close calls that could've gone either way, but ended up as calls on Seattle every time.

You guys can say whatever you want but that game had the most unquestionable and unreasonable play calling I have ever seen in sports. If you can say the Pitts. clearly out played Seattle in terms of the game itself.... How can you sleep at night.

Sigh... no offense, but i hate when don't have a clue what they are talking about and then try to argue the other way...

BOTH major plays were called right in the end which is what should have happened. Face it, Seattle crapped the bed and they only have themselves to blame.

Roethilsberger did not make that TD and Jackson merely shook himself loose of any hold he had on him and the TD was legit.

Rigged? absolutely not.. a few very arguable decisions? no doubt. Some key points for Pittsburgh during the game were legit, so were the TD's, even the QB's one since it was such a hard call i felt it could have gone either way and after all, i believe they would have needed a pretty clear evidence to be able to take it back, which was just not possible to have.

This goes aside from me liking the Steelers better also. I also think it wasn't Hasselbeck's finest game, they had good chances to make things even, or to their favor slightly at some point.

There was lots of great things on TV during the Superbowl like many movies, On Spike they had rare shows, and had tons of Family Guy and Simpsons. That what was on Cable.

I think that there was so much money in Las Vegas and the mafia on the Steelers winning, that the game was fixed. Not to mention that there was pressure behind giving the Steelers the win so they could have their 5 rings and to give Jerome Bettis a good finish.

Also, as you saw, there was about 90% Steelers Fans at the Superbowl. When a SuperBowl is set up the tickets are divided equaly amongst the teams to ensure that there is a equal amount of fans for both sides.....well that sure didn't happen at this years SuperBowl...lol..........

The calls that were made helped in the Steelers to win. there is no way around it. One of the calls gave the Steelers a TD, another took one away from the Seahawks. There is 14 points right there. Then, all the penelty calls against Seattle when there was nothing to call them on. The call where the offensive lineman held the Pitts. linebacker should have been offset because he was offsides. 3 plays in a row the Steelers were offsides blitzing from that one side and it wasn't called once. Then the penalty on Matt Hasselback for blocking under the knees, when in fact he was tackling the guy who intrecpted the ball.....its like WTF.........those refs had to be paid off.

Also did you notice how the refs took a while to throw the penalty flags but when they called Matt's run and fall where the ball poped out...they spent no time deciding that it was questionable...thecalled it a fumble without disregard.....I mean.. If the ground causes the fumble then he is down. so it shouldn't have mattered anyway. I saw that right off the bat from the replay.

Also....a conspiracy. The Head Ref....this was his first SuperBowl ever....hmmm

Also....when your team has poor and unfair calls throughout the game its a big demoralizer and that could ahve been the key factor to the Seahawks losing.

but yes something was up with the refs they either are not meant to be refs or yes it was rigged, i dont think a super bowl should be like that its just wrong. even espn shows like sportscenter said the refs sucked, not in that words, but appropiate for television. but whats done is done.

I guess I am an idiot, but whether i'm "a Lukewarm Steelers' fan or not, I still believe some plays were wrongly called. On the front page of the news paper I read it showed a time with steelers got a touchdown and it was obviously not over the line, but they still called it as a touchdown. If the seahawks would have challenged the play i'm sure it would they play would not have stood.

I'll admit, I'm not the biggest football fan in the world, not even close. But I think thats better than being a fanboy of one team and not opening my mind to realize that possibly, just possibly the refs were paid off, especially with that many wrong calls.

the TD i completely agree with sea fans even though i wasnt rooting for them, he was clearly not in and crawled in after. that was a horrible call, i just wanted to see a fair game.

The touchdown call went along the guide lines of that there needs to be undeniable evidence supporting a over ruling, and there was not, it was close, but not enough to overturn.

and other bad call was obviously the case of the reff not seeing it right, something that happens a lot in sports. WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE A CONSPIRACY!

Hmmm is right, why would he admit it if it was some huge conspiracy to doop the public? The players know that bad calls are unfortunately and fortunately part of the game, and it's no big deal because there is nothing you can do about it.

The Steelers I always thought was a garbage team. And in the Superbowl they defintely got assistance from the Refs. Basically the NFL wanted the Steelers to win so they can give appreciation to Jerome Bettis. I'm not a seahawk fan at all. But they got robbed with a flurry of bad calls against them.

I think any major sport is rigged to a extent, especially a sport like football where its almost a major holiday when the superbowl comes around. Its almost like the college football where the teams with the higher tv ratings get in the "good" games and the ones that are just as good if not better dont get in because of tv ratings.

Another thing to look at is how hard is it to not have a favorite team? Refs have to in some way.

if i was owner i wouldnt want to call player while there in the middle of the game. that would mess up there grove.

if you watch some of the games. the team winning by 14 points, qb gets a call from owner then he looks sad. then next thing you know other team makes come back or covers the spreed
