There isn't yet an Official thread for the great FPS Call Of Duty 4 : Modern Warfare game. This has got to be one of the best games and most played games out there in the gaming world!

Is there online mode in Call Of Duty 4:Modern Warfare ?

Yes, there is.

Do i get some kind of achievements whilst i am playing online?

You do, yes. If you complete a challenge which can be found in the barracks at the lobby.

What happens at level 55 (Maximum Level) ?

You can choose to do Prestige mode, which lets you go back to level 1, you lose all your guns and completed challenges but you keep your stats.

How many times can i do this "Prestige Mode" ?

You can do it 10 times.

Can i look up and see how many kills/deaths i have ?

Yes you can, it is located in the barracks in Leaderboards.

Campaign Information

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare focuses on a fictional war from the perspectives of different people who are involved. As my previous attempt at getting a separate forum just for COD4 failed, i decided to open this thread.

I have completed the gameplay in Recruit and also Veteran and it was fantastic both times.

I mostly play it online and ATM, i am level 51 Prestige mode 6. I love using the G3 with stopping power, No attachment with blue tiger camouflage. Many people don't pay attention to the G3 as i can so far see, nor did i. However it really is a spectacular gun in the game and i encourage everyone to try it out!

CoD4... well, let me just say, I do thoroughly enjoy this game, but NOT all of the time. It's the first game in a long while that's actually made me annoyed. Let me explain...

Me and the rest of the guys will get together every now and then and play crossfire, team deathmatch, three vs one. Why does this make me mad? The one always massacres us, he's that much better than us, and we aren't what you'd call light weights. We're not great, but we're not noobs anymore. (EDIT: I don't blame the game for this :P)

Another thing about this game that frustrates me is that, online, you CANT CHOOSE WHICH MAP TO PLAY ON! What's up with that? In fact, the whole structure of choosing games frustrates me. What ever happened to listing all the available games? And what if I feel like playing a certain map? I mean, most maps, I enjoy a bit, but my favorite is definetly Crossfire, and I can't log on to the PSN and jump right into a Crossfire game... am I the only one who finds this system infuriating? I can't remember the last time I didn't have a choice of which map to play on...

Anyways, it's a fun game, as long as you can take the blow to your ego if you have a friend who's a beast at the game, and if you can handle not choosing your own server. I only buy the games that I think are classics, so please understand that I do love the game, but I think the method in which you choose a game should be addressed.

Why would you use the G3 without any attachments? You can always put the silencer or the red dot, they won't hinder you, only help you.

I'd like to see an organized thread with 'stickies' that sets up tournys or better yet a league, but the online lobby system in cod makes this a difficult task ;), and I work screwy hours but I would deffinatly be interested in online organized games - that would be sweet :D - on a side note, i'm pretty much just an average player - I like team deathmatches the most, athough sumtimes when I feel the need I enjoy free for alls still too ;) - Sabatoge and Capture both fun as well as old school free, actually all game modes have there moments ;), and I like different maps in pretty much all different modes ;) - but yea, if at all possibly, sumone set sumthin up for sum organized online COD4 that would be sick!!!!!

That's true. I liked the G3, and was really accurate with it, but when i got my 1000xp's for using it (got 150 kills with it), i kinda stopped.
It was ok, but i like automatic guns more, this one is no good for shooting from the hip (and i do that a lot - in close range), it's a little hard to aim when you're pressing R1 really really fast trying to imitate a fully automatic rifle :)
I use M4 with double tap.
Btw, why don't you have any attachments on it?. I simply can't play anymore without the red dot sight.

as far as some of u guys r sayin y no attachments? for me it depends on the gun like my M4 ALWAYS has the red dot on it, but when i load out the MP5 i usually dnt use a red dot i really like the iron sights on it... same sometimes with the G3 and the G36 and prolly some other guns

I recently purchased COD4 and after I go on a streak it gives me the option to call in an airstrike, which the command onscreen looks like you just press to the right on the D-pad to call it in, but when I do that nothing happens?! Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

m16, red dot, stopping power, last stand is my killing tools. i never choose to play any submachine guns or shotguns. my lastest favorite is the 2nd light machine gun with the grip--its proven to be straight shooting killing machine

are you trying after a 3 kill streak, or a 5?

if you only have a 3 streak, you can only call up the radar

I recommend you try a different type of match then. I got bored with Domination so I moved to S&D then to Headquarters and now I like Hardcore TD. Each time I change it makes the game seem new and exciting again.

Ok question. When I get the 3 kills I get the radar. But before I could call the radar I see more enemies right in front of me. I kill 2 and now I get the airstrike. So is there a way to first call the UAV and then the airstrike? Last night I had an airstrike and I couldnt call it because someone already did and then by that time I already had 2 more kills and I called the Heli but I just couldnt call the airstrike again :(

I remember seeing Intel messages when the game is loading to call the air strike in combination with UAV. I dont know if its asking us to wait till our UAV is online.

You have to ask a teammate to call in a UAV before you call in the air strike. You cant call a UAV then instantly call a air strike. Unless you call the UAV then kill people in a row to get the air strike.

I figured that was the case but it would have been cool if you could call the UAV and the air strike because sometimes there are just so many around you that you dont have time to hit that button. And before you know it you have 5 kills and your UAV is gone.

nope u just have press Right.. but depending on if an Airstrike (or Copter) has been called in recently... if u see green planes on ur radar then u have to wait a bit to call urs in. it wont let u for like 30seconds or so.

as far as calling in one perk then calling in another? no u cant if u get radar and u dnt use it then u get Airstrike u lose the radar same with Airstrike to Copter or ne other combos

Mic is ok in TDM. But why do ppl use mics in free-for-all. That annoys the crap out of me. And then they play some stupid songs. Of course i can't win then, i'm being f-ing annoyed by the guy. The dude that does that is smart, a total bitc*, but smart.

The second thing i don't like is when (in TDM) i turn on the radar, and then 3 ppl after 1 second turn it on too. WTF, why waste the radar? You're not playing alone, you're in a team, and when you have radar, it's much easier to play. Do you really need those 10 xp's that much. Come on.

I realized lately that, i can't play cod when i'm pissed of, i just can't. And lately i'm pissed of very often, especially when i have to wait for the stupid "downloading game settings", or.....when i enter a match, the ping is so f-ing huge i can't play. Lately, i can't get more then 3/5 of those little lines that represent ping. I'm gonna lose my mind. When i started playing, i didn't get anything less then 5/5. I have 2mbps adsl, it should be enough, it was before.
I just played a little, for the first time in like a 200 matches i had more deaths then kills. I flipped out.

Yeah, it's been happening to me for some time now. It's not the +10, it's just killing ppl and trying to duck when some1 wants to kill me with the knife.

Ha. The same thing happens at my house. I get three of my friends together and I totally own them, :lol: In their defense, they haven't had a whole lot of practice. I've decided, however that the reason that do so bad is because it is 3 on 1. Think about it. All three of them only have 1 person to kill. They all have to find him. Whereas the lone guy can pop all three of them before they know what hit them. Think of it as every respawn, the 3 guys get one kill, and the lone guy can get three kills or a lot more points.

I have a question. What do i do with that "downloading game settings" thing.
I notices sth. I only happens when you DL and install the 1.1 update. Without that, the game works just fine. But i think my ping is bigger when i don't have the update. I don't know what to do. And the ping really pisses me off. 100ms ping in a FPS game is difference between life and death.

i'll be honest with you guys i thought this game was not even close to resistance online. but after buying the game last week i'm total HOOK on this game. i just love the MP 5 gun, wow. right now i'm at level 18. Resistance online have nothing on this game. Last night was the first night i got 7 kills in a row was all jump and screaming. i have a question?

Quick question about using a bluetooth mic in COD4 team deathmatch. Is it possible to set it up so that you can hear yourself speak during the game? At the moment I can only hear myself and other people speak just before the game starts and after it ends.

Is this a setting of the game or have I not set something up correctly? as mic works fine apart from in the game I can't hear people or myself speak. :)

I got hooked on COD back when I played COD3 on 360 a few years ago. My roommate used to own me all the time. Then I got COD4 on PS3, got better and now I'm a pretty decent player online. Depending on the game, I usually average 20+ kills and a single digit of deaths. I really like small maps, where I can use stealth. My favorite thing to used is a silenced MP5 or silenced P90, I can rack up so many kills with those weapons. Every now and then I might use the RPD, but its kinda a cheap weapon so I don't use it to often. PSN - Levi0522 =]

When ur on prestige do u get some type of weapon that nobody has if u completed? I've been playing COD 4 ever since I bought it and I'm still playing it now and I still don't know wat prestige does.

Basically you hit rank 55 trade in your rank for a cool symbol and start again at lvl 1

that perk is overkill and you get it around level 39. so im not a helpless sniper with a pistol anymore. im level 43.

I'm not the greatest player but I have improved by playing on merc team death match. Gives you a bit of breathing space to watch and listen. If you like add me and if I'm on while your playing do a private match invite and you can kill me loads for practice

I was wondering if it is possible to play CoD4 with bots? I only have dial up and don't always have someone to play split screen with. Also I am considering getting satelite internet but have heard that playing first person shooter games is really crappy on sat internet.

sorry man, there are no bots. if you wanna play online at all you should get atleast DSL

anyone have any tips for someone coming from mouse/keyboard setup,to ease the transition to the dual analog sixaxis?im having quite a hard time specialy if i have to move and aim at the same time.

Well, believe me.. you will get used to it quite quickly! I played medal of honour online for a while on PC before the PS3 and COD4.. It didn't take me that long to adjust to the new style and i still now think it's better :D Goodluck.

You can play online with dial up. I do.;) Just make sure you get in a game with no microphones.

I'm up to rank 48 on first prestige mode.

It can take some time to get used to the controller but I guess there's no other way than practice, practice...

Also, be sure to check the vertical settings from game options - try it in both inverted and normal settings to see which suites you betta. To me, using the wrong vert setting is like trying to brush me teeth with the wrong hand. It really makes a big difference.

The Grenade KC are really cool to see, especially seeing one bounce from the roof and land right next to your boot. Or bouncing off your shoulder and landing behind you.

This game is so good that its making every other game i buy look bad. Including Rainbow Six Vegas 2. It is the perfect game online and offline.

I love playing online, im on level 44 - 1st Prestige. Not very impressive i know but still.
I have just started playing Search and Destroy after playing Groundwars and Team Deathmatches. I just love the fact that you need too be quick to beable to kill the other opponment before he gets you or before your team mates get everyone.

I honestly don't think there will be a better game until the release of GTA 4!!!!

i went with inverted eventually some time ago,working alot better now,any tips for a good sniper rifle?im using maily M4 atm,but i wanna level up a sniper wep aswell,i got the first 3 unlocked,using the 3rd atm,which sniper rifle is the preferd by the rest of you guys and gals?

Yeah the grenade killcams are absolutely awesome! It's funny to look at them! Nuvian, I'd recommend the M21 Sniper with Stopping power. It has hardly any recoil and semi automatic also it is handy in close-combat as well as long range ;)

I don't know any names of the sniper rifles apart from the almighty barrett 50 cal. But the sniper you get with the premade class is the best imo.
Its great with stopping power and deep impact.

One of my Favorite sniipers in the M21 because it almost has no recoil.
