Finally got round to watching Paprika and its fantastic, everything you expect for a psychological anime, but can anyone recommend other movies, Ive seen Perfect Blue, Ghost in the Shell 1 & 2, Akira, Cowboy Bebop, Appleseed, Howl's, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke (but not really a Ghibli fan) and possibly some others Ive forgotten about.
Has anyone seen and can recommend, Steamboy, Metropolis, Spriggan, Sky Blue or Millennium Actress.
Hopefully you can suggest something like Paprika.

I can't recommend Steamboy. The artwork is pretty good, but the story itself is so slow paced it feels like a 4 hour movie.
I'd say rent it if you absolutely must see it.
Go get My Neighbor Totoro instead. It is a must. Best Ghibli movie ever.

I'd say watch Sky Blue if you liked Advent Children, it's heavy on the amazing animation and art but kind of lacking in the story department. Still it's a pretty good watch.

Never said AC but I have seen it and thought it was a 'look what we can do' movie, all the effort went into the cgi and not into anything else, was still cool though.

I meant Sky Blue is like AC in that it has gorgeous art and animation but kinda lacks in the story department.

You should watch an anime movie called Angel's Egg.
Here's what it looks like:http://www.veoh.com/videos/v1585001SPSJx5t2
It's really weird, perhaps you should give it a try?

You may try some of these:
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo)
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
Escaflowne: A Girl in Gaea
Castle in the Sky
Oseam
Even if they may not seem like the type you would like you may try out one or two of them. There are a lot of animes that I thought I would have hated and never even give a try, but ended up giving them a try and ended up liking them. Since then I have been a little more open-minded and have enjoyed a lot of animes I otherwise would have never watched.
Has anyone seen and can recommend, Steamboy, Metropolis, Spriggan, Sky Blue or Millennium Actress.
Only one of these I have watched is Metropolis, I think when it came on Spike or Scifi (cannot remember which of these channels). I think it is worth an watch. Ever watch Galaxy Express 999? It kinda reminded me of it for some reason (not so much in story but character wise), but it has been a very long time since I watched Galaxy Express 999.
Hopefully you can suggest something like Paprika.
I haven't watched it yet, but you may try 'Tokyo Godfathers' considering it's directed, produced, etc. by most of the same people that made Paprika.

Paprika is actually the only anime movie I have seen. It was pretty good and I loved how it messes up your mind.
As for movies like it you could try other movies from Satoshi Kon

Tekkonkinkreet is a great film for Blu-Ray!
I loved it, the message it sent, the animation, everything. Paprika appealed to me because of the psychological side of things which gets your mind ticking. Tekkonkinkreet kind of did the same for me but to a lesser extent, I loved the whole black & white thing going on. Good & evil, balancing them out and the consequences it could have on either one if separated or disrupted, yin & yang...
Highly recommended! ;)

Millennium Actress was enjoyable, Susumu Hirasawa did the soundtrack for it as well as Paprika, big fan of his. Tokyo Godfathers was pretty good as well. Go watch Jin-Roh though, that is one of my faves. Metropolis and Steamboy sucked. Especially Steamboy, god that was horrible. Can't believe I sat through the whole thing. If you only had a couple of hours to live, watch Steamboy. By the time it ends you will be ready and eager to die. Since it looks like your watching most of the classics, check out Ninja Scroll as well.

Tekkon Kinkreet is very very reminiscent of Paprika. The art styles are very different but the colour palette of both movies is extraordinary and very vivid. Both movies touch upon psychological elements and are a feast for the eyes. Both have great music too.

I'll have to check out Tekkon Kinkreet because of this...
Have you tried watching Voices from a Distant Star? or Appleseed Ex Machina? Cowboy Bebop: The Movie is also good for some basic action anime.
Anything starring the Project A-ko is a lot of fun to watch as well.

i actually didn't like Paprika all that much, i thought it was nice, but it fell short, as i was expecting something different, but it was kinda like Paranoia Agent ...not sure how no one has mentioned that one actually, but yeah if you liked Paprika, Paranoia Agent is a good one to watch, it's only 13 episodes long
I do like Millennium Actress, though I'm not sure how you'd like it, but the art is beautiful, and the story is simple and nice. Metropolis is also a good one to watch, it's kinda sad i think ....

I know Paranoia is from the same Director but I just couldn't get into it for some reason.

SPOILERS AHEAD
I know Paranoia is from the same Director but I just couldn't get into it for some reason.yeah, i'm not a big fan of PA, simply because it makes no sense, especially if you watched the whole thing there's no reason for Shounen Bat / Little Slugger to be in existence due to the fact that it was just the girl's imaginated assailant, nothing real. They don't explain how it became anything like it did, there was no real interest, it was just a lame show I thought

BTW The Soundtrack to Paprika speaks for itself in so many ways.

i think the paranoia agent and paprika soundtracks are some of Susumu Hirasawa's weaker works, speaking from a guy who has listened to like 90% of all his work xD
Not including P-Model, and the rest

I loved the music from Paprika, very reminiscent of the parade/float thing with all of the household objects and dolls floating around. I wasn't a massive fan of paprika, but the art style and music are very gorgeous and cutting edge.

Metropolis is a great movie, one of my all time favorite. Akira should be on the list as well, for being so artisticly good. Spirited Away is really good as well, good message.
