Want The Buttons In Your Clan Tag?

This tutorial will show you how to have L2, R2, D pad Up, D pad Down, D pad Left, D pad Right in your clan tag for COD 4!

1. Get a usb Hard drive or flash card, and save your cod 4 game save on it.
2. Put the game save on your PC.
3.) Download Hex Workshop (http://www.bpsoft.com/)
4.) Open GPAD0_MP(This Is The File In Your Cod 4 Game Save) in Hex Workshop

You should see this.. (Mines a lil more edited, b/c i was testing more buttons) Your looking for the space between the " " after ClanName. Edit only the dots in between the quotes.

Now we are only messing with theses 4 spots.

Change the highlighted numbers to the hex values below to have the button in your clan tag. To change highlight one of the dots, and right click and click fill, and then type one of the hex values below. Now SAVE THE EDITED FILE.

Now overwrite your old cod 4 file on your PS3, and then copy over the new file you have edited.


Here are the hex values of the new buttons, more coming soon!

0E = Start
0F = Select
10 = L3
11 = R3
12 = L2
13 = R2
14 = D pad Up
15 = D pad Down
16 = D Pad Left
17 = D Pad Right
01 = X
02 = O
03 = []
04 = /\

I just put that big pic there show you can see where the Clan Name quotes need to be edited. You just edit the space in between the quotes.

whoa its not nearly as complicated i think. u plug in a usb keyboard and change the keyboard language in the settings to dutch (i think, dont remember exactly how my friend did it). then upon entering a clan tag, i think u hold the right ALT key and press some other key. as i said, im not exactly sure what it was, but I know its not nearly as complicated as what you're saying.

All you have to do is put your PS3 keyboard into dutch language from the xmb and then whilst entering your clan tag hold alt and press any number in the number keypad.

Why bother doing all this? when its that easy.
Plus, it looks pretty crap.

The keyboard trick is just for the L3 and R3. This is for all the other possible buttons. I don't know em all but they should be relatively close together number wise. This is NOT just L3 And R3. It's for every button the game uses! Use at your own risk, it's time consuming.

Ha, yeah man, I hear ya....I think it's kinda funny honestly...I have really only seen people running around with the L3-R3 business-I would myself, put up the Triangle button....I mean, c'mon-we all know the Triangle button is Playstation. I think its really odd that this information is stored in the save game files and not on some central Infinity Ward server (or Demonware as the case may be)... It makes me wonder... maybe I shouldn't even point this out... but is all of the other stats info saved in there as well? I mean like rank, prestige level, unlockable weapons? If the clan tag is saved here, why wouldn't the rest of that info? Thats kind of a dangerous question I suppose... :)

I think the result of all of this is kinda silly, but the concept of editing the save game files with a hex editor is really dangerous in regards to the integrity of online gaming. Seems like it could open lots of doors for game cheat (game shark) type programs.

I might actually do this with all selects or something. People get so mad over the clan tag glitches but it's not like it changes the gameplay or gives any advantage. It's just something you can do to make your name more unique.

Yeah it's weird you can edit the message of the day with that save file. But they must constantly check or something because it changes back to the default after a min. I dunno about it holding your other stats for online. Pretty sure thats under lock and key at their site.

Yeah, I just updated the hex number list to include the missing ones. Still wondering if theres a # for the PS logo. Also rumor's are saying you can access all the prestige mode icons too. Look out for that one as well.

I played against a guy who had the L3 button 4 times in his clan tag. It took up so much space you couldn't even read his PSN, it was off the screen. It was really, really lame but I did enjoy the 8 times I got to kill his lame aºº.

I can't get this to work for some reason. I edited and saved the file, but when i copy it to my ps3 and go online, my old clan tag is still there. What am i doing wrong?
edit: nevermind. had to change it from dec to hex

I SAW SOMEONE WITH BLUE WRITING. his name was in blue, and when he killed someone their name was just silver like a team kill color. wth? his psn name is stillborne , he said he was a cod4 admin, i dont believe it one second, his clan tag was an x buton.
