Been wondering what everybody thinks of one of the biggest Anime distribution companies in the US collapsing and what it means for the future?. Personally this has pissed me off a bit because i'm in the middle of completing the Fate/Stay and DearS box sets and the DVD's are only available from Geneon in the US. I'm also collecting Ergo Proxy but because MVM is distributing them in the UK that doesn't bother me too much. However it does mean i will probably miss out on titles like Shakugan no Shana which i really wanted, unless of course in a few months you will probably end up having to pay through the nose on eBay or end up getting bootleg (which i don't really want to).
I hope this doesn't reflect on future anime companies and the future of the industry, ADV has cancelled it's TV channel thing and is rumored to be cancelling it's weekly Anime magazine in the US, hopefully though this is just them restructuring and such as to avoid what happened to Geneon.
Has this also affected anybody in the middle of a DVD collection?

This sucks, this means I have to watch Hellsing Ultimate Episode 4 subbed and we all know that Hellsing is not nearly as awesome without Crispin Freeman's voice.

But seriously I don't buy anime so I don't really care except for the whole Hellsing Ultimate Episode 4 dub fiasco.

I honestly could care less, the US anime scene has always been unknowledgable, unstable and cut throat at times
I mostly watch straight or fansubs, I spent enough money ages ago on commercial versions

i used to buy dvd collections... but the US market has really disappointed me...oftentime i find that the fansubs are actually MUCH more professional... i mean i support the companies as well... but i dont feel like giving a US distributor the money (which is basically what were doing when we buy the horrendously inflated prices of anime over here)
im in the process of learning japanese, and know a little.. so i might just start importing from japan directly and give my money to the ones who actually deserve it.

That could be very good news, i can see them acquiring the more popular ones like Samurai Champloo and Ergo Proxy. I do REALLY hope though that they pick up Black Lagoon's second season if anything.

But it's possible Funi could pick that up, at the moment though i'm hearing they are only looking at 2 anime's and one of them is Black Lagoon.
