The title says it all, I was reading in the Yellow Dog Linux forums about Linux losing the ability to communicate with the wireless card after the 2.0 firmware update. I hadn't booted it up in Linux since the update and after reading this I did, lo and behold, wireless no longer worked. It says something about a bad gelic driver when you try to change the configuration. Also the problem is across all versions of Linux so its something in either the kernal or Sony changed something about the Hypervisor access to the network card via the firmware update.
This sucks really bad. Why wouldn't they inform people at Terrasoft so that this could have been patched ahead of time. It really sucks when an update comes out and breaks things that were working fine.
Anybody else notice this problem yet?

No, I don't use WiFI, but this sucks... I think they did this because of the hackers that gained access of the graphic card (I forgot the name?). They patched the Hypervisor, so they couldn't continue in the project.
Thats my thought.

Take a look at the features 2.0 added. The implementation of remote start probably has something to do with it not working.

The latest firmware update for the PS3 (v2.0) for some reason removes wireless configuration from your PSUbuntu Network Manager.
The solution is to upgrade your kernel using the linux-kernel-2.6.23-rc7_tools package (http://rapidshare.com/files/58033319/linux-kernel-2.6.23-rc7_tools.tar.html).
Here’s how to do it:
Get the tar file (http://rapidshare.com/files/58033319/linux-kernel-2.6.23-rc7_tools.tar.html) and copy it to your PSUbuntu Desktop (use a usb-stick or other media)
Extract the files and run each .deb file within (linux-headers.., linux-image.., ps3pf-utils.., wifi-radar..)
Reboot, and your wireless network shold be available again.

It seems to me that ps3pf-utils 2.0.2 is incompatible with this. After removing it and installing 2.0.1 (included in the tar) it worked, but I couldn't get PS3videomode to work. After upgrading to 2.0.2 I keep having a problem in which it just black screens after the Ubuntu boot screen.
Anyone know what's going on?

i have the same problem... but in the PS3 OS.... i get an error saying : Access was point not Detected. Does this mean my wifi broke or this is just another bug from the 2.0 firmware update?

The RSX access is not a crack, it's just using undocumented features, and is not easy to patch, without causing tons of other problems, and I'm 100% sure it has nothing to do with the network not working, since RSX still is accessible via Linux
